Can anyone tell me what this plant is please? It is about 3ft tall, I have about 3 growing in a bunch. I have never seen it before, Could have come in a packet of annual seeds. I have been waiting for the colored petals to open but all that has appeared are these little green petals around a cone.

Thanks Landgirl, Having been around the countryside all my life it's one that has given me the slip!! I only hope it is not one that takes over. If so perhaps I had better send it packing now. Perhaps you can advise me. The word trifid worries me!
